7-11 Inventory Dashboard

7-11 Inventory System

Description:

This project consisted of the challenge to redesign an inventory system and help users to avoid inventory mistakes and help them solve main pain points with the actual system.

Problems and requirements: Main requirement: Close the books daily. Meaning, compare the Purchase Summary Report with the Inventory Management report to identify discrepancies between what accounting booked as a purchase and what the Store Associates/ managers have scanned & inventory in stock.

Pain points:

  • Too much data and simple tasks are painful and slow process

  • Confusion over where numbers come from

  • Difficult to identify source of variance and correct it before it becomes an issue

Discovery Process:

  • Empathy Interviews, Affinity Diagrams and Themes

  • Empathy Mapping

  • Store Systems Roadmap & Feature Comparison

  • User Journey Maps and current Data Flow

Problem and solution definition process:

  • Point of view and problem statement definition (4 W)

  • Ideation, hypothesis, and Epics definition

Execution:

* (My role starts here as UX and UI Designer)

  • Define scenarios and user flows

  • Design mockups for use cases

  • Review with final users (3 personas)

  • New design system for internal tools (B2B)

Here are some examples from the screens I designed for the inventory system.

Inventory walk : view all items

As a user, I want to see variance at the item level first, and drill up to the PSA if necessary so I can reduce the amount of data I have to drill through.

inventory walk: Search an specific item

As a user, I want to search for specific items so I can easily review the data and variance.

inventory walk: filter items by psa

As a user, I want to filter the data by categories, so I can review the variance easily.

These are some examples of how the system was. These project was the starting point to define a new design system for 7-11 internal tools.
